5-Week Hybrid Course
Through an interdisciplinary lens, this class offers a nuanced understanding of a globalized Rwanda across colonialism, genocide, and contemporary development. Critically investigating Rwanda’s experience of the colonial enterprise, students will trace Rwanda’s modern history through the tragic 1994 genocide. Emphasizing Rwanda’s efforts at post-genocide development and societal reconciliation, the course will further concentrate on the ways in which Rwanda has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing and dynamic economies, widely touted as a “model” for African development.
